The Archival Series from The Macallan was created to showcase advertisements for the distillery and its whisky from yesteryear, presented in folio tins that look like big books. This particular edition is Folio 5, and it features a deerstalker hat on both the bottle's label and book-shaped tin. A rare, collectible piece from the legendary distillery.
In the second limited annual release of the Harmony Collection, The Macallan looks to coffee. This Highland single malt is inspired by intense arabica, with plenty of roasted coffee bean, red fruit, and chocolate notes finding their way into the whisky, having been matured in sherry seasoned oak casks. Even the packaging has a coffee connection and is made from recycled cascara.
The Macallan has collaborated with renowned pastry chef Jordi Roca (from El Celler de Can Roca, which has three Michelin stars, we'll have you know) on a smashing single malt with a decidedly chocolatey flavour profile. Macallan whisky maker Polly Logan worked with Roca as well as Casa Cacao chocolatier Damien Allsop on this expression, which is made with whiskies aged in sherry-seasoned European oak casks and sherry-seasoned American oak casks. As you might expect, this brilliant single malt pairs wonderfully with chocolate...
Not only that, but the 100% recyclable presentation box also pays homage to the chocolatey characteristics of the whisky, having been made using husks from cacao pods!
The highly anticipated 2023 Rare Cask release from The Macallan is a showcase of whisky from the finest sherry-seasoned casks. The casks have been selected as they bring a particularly complex, raisin-forward character to the Highland single malt Scotch whisky.
Maker's Mark is a bourbon whiskey produced in Loretto, Kentucky. The Maker's Mark distillery was founded in 1954 and today produces around 1 million bottles of whiskey per year. The Maker's Mark brand is known for its red wax seal, which is applied by hand to each bottle.
Maker’s Mark bourbon is distilled to the lowest proof of any US whiskey, according to the producer. This proffers a bourbon that retains a rich flavour. Developed by Bill Samuels Sr, he replaced rye with red winter wheat to reduce the burning sensation from the whiskey.
A brilliant whisky (NB - Maker's Mark is one of just a few distilleries in the US to spell whisky sans the "e"!) it is made to a mashbill which uses wheat instead of rye. The result, therefore, can be described as a "wheated bourbon", and it's all the more smooth and creamy because of it!
Maker's Mark is made using a sour mash process, which means that each batch of whiskey is made using a portion of the previous batch's fermented mash. This makes Maker's Mark whiskey unique, as each batch has its own flavor profile.
Martell Cordon Bleu is the cognac for true connoisseurs and has acquired legendary status since its creation by Edouard Martell in 1912. Its distinctive taste, characterised by a predominance of eaux-de-vie from the Borderies, and its timeless bottle design make it a classic, unequalled in the world of cognac. An explosion of deliciously fruited, spice notes. Elegance linked to aromatic richness is what defines Martell Cordon Bleu.
MORTLACH 12 Year Old The Wee Witchie. The entry point of the Mortlach range, combining both ex-bourbon- and ex-sherry-matured whisky to balance the distillery’s traditionally weighty, dried fruit character against fresh fruit and vanilla notes.
The result is a success, combining the best of both of these worlds while still showing off the meaty Mortlach spirit.
This single malt Scotch Whisky is inspired by the iconic and rewarding first bottling of the 16 year old released in 1992. It has been matured in only Sherry casks to impart rich, fruity and fragrant notes atop the beasty complexity synonymous with Mortlach.
While most distilleries use their Coffey stills only to make grain whisky, Nikka use the two Coffey stills at their Miyagikyo distillery to create malt whisky too. The Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky was introduced to their selection of expressions in 2014. Plenty rich and flavoursome, it's a wonderful addition to Nikka's fantastic range.
Nikka Days is a brilliantly bright blended Japanese whisky from the legendary producer, featuring spirits from the Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries. The slightly peated whisky delicately balances both fruity and malted flavours. The sunny packaging is sure to brighten up your day too!
Miypgikyo Peated Single Malt
Nikka Discovery series, the Miyagikyo Peated single malt is made using peated malts, showing off the distillery's smoky side of things. A brilliant Japanese whisky that is well worth exploring for enthusiasts.
Yoichi Non-Peated Single Malt
Nikka Discovery series, the Yoichi Distillery made exclusively with unpeated malts. You'll usually find a good helping of smoky elements in Yoichi's whiskies, so this ought to be a fascinating experience for Japanese whisky fans.
Replacing the previous NAS Miyagikyo single malt as well as the remaining age statement expressions, this single release will represent the distillery going forward as demand for Japanese whisky remains as strong as ever. The new single malt is said to be made with whiskies spanning various ages (hinting at the inclusion of older whiskies than the previous NAS release) with classic delicate, floral character and primarily ex-Sherry casks used for maturation.
A fabulous Japanese blended whisky from Nikka, Tailored brings together a core of malted barley from the Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries, along with Coffey still grain whisky! A brilliant balance of sweet fruit and more bitter notes, the distillery suggests enjoying it alongside some dark chocolate, which we reckon sounds rather good.
A new edition of Nikka's Taketsuru Pure Malt, released in 2020! It features a new recipe, showing off the excellent balance of the Japanese whisky, alongside wafts of smoke and waves of creamy malt. The name is a reference to Nikka's founder, Masataka Taketsuru, who established Nikka all the way back in 1934!
The award-winning Nikka Whisky From The Barrel blend is absolutely full of flavour. Bottled at 51.4% ABV. The blend combines both single malt and grain whisky from the Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries, which are then married in a huge variety of casks, including bourbon barrels, sherry butts and refill hogsheads. A huge depth of flavour in this stunning Japanese whisky. We can't recommend this enough.
